Santa's Coming to Lochee

Hi folks.

It's not too late to get your ticket for the Christmas Party.

TABLETOP SALE

The tabletop sale is being held this Saturday 18th December in the BB Hall, Bright Street, Lochee at 10.00am. Yes folks this Saturday. Or is it on Saturday. That's correct it's this Saturday, on Saturday. You can hire a table for £7.00p and sell your own stuff or come along and help us out on Saturday. Hand in any unwanted items you may have at your Club and we'll sell them at the TABLETOP SALE on SATURDAY 18th.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Taekwon Do Kids Christmas Party is being held on Thursday 23rd December 2010 from 6.00pm to 7.30pm in the BB Hall, Lochee. Tickets are only £5.00 and you can bring your brothers, sisters or friends. Tickets from your Instructor.

Roughy Toughy Wildcats

Here they are folks, the roughy toughy Wildcats who braved the ice and snow to sit their Grading tonight in Menzieshill. Take a bow kids, proud of you.

Lets see a good turnout on Saturday at the Grading in Whitfield. Its in the Whitfield Parish Church Hall, Haddington Crescent, and starts at 10am.

BAD NEWS but GOOD NEWS TOO

Here's the latest news folks.

ALL LOCHEE CLUBS and THURSDAYS GRADING have to be cancelled as Bright Street and Tofthill are both a sheet of ice and piled up snow. Tons of snow and ice have fallen off a roof, bringing down slates and pipes and it's a real mess. There are abandoned cars sticking out into the street and the access to the BB Hall is blocked off. It's far too dangerous for you to venture down there.

However, and here's the good news.

Tomorrows Grading in The Menzieshill Neighbourhood Centre, Orleans Place, will go ahead starting at 5.00 o'clock as the staff there have done an amazing job and cleared the access road and the car park.

Anyone who can make it should now Grade tomorrow night in Menzieshill. I'll be there from about 4.30pm.

If you can't make tomorrow night in Menzieshill there will be a Grading in Whitfield Parish Church Hall, Haddington Crescent, Whitfield on Saturday morning starting at 10.00am. The access to there is fine too.

See you at either of these venues...you choose which.

Lets have a good turnout as I don't want to see all the hard work you and your Instructors have put in going to waste.

Can you please inform anyone you know from your Club about these arrangement as not everyone subscribes to the blog. Thanks.

Training and Grading NEWS

Hi folks'

Weathers not so good but there's no point taking it personally as it's snowing on everyone.

Schools are back, workers are working, buses are running, roughy toughy Martial Artists are training.

All classes will be running as normal this week as long as there's no great deterioration in the weather and road conditions. The Menzieshill and Lochee Gradings will go ahead as planned. You all know the details, ie. where and when, but if you've forgotten telephone or text me.

As long as it's safe lets go for it.

NO CLASSES UNTIL 7th DECEMBER

Hi everyone,

Really sorry but Im afraid that all classes are now cancelled until next Tuesday 7th December. That means no class in Whitfield on Saturday too.

Next Wednesday 8th Menzieshill and Thursday 9th Lochee Gradings will still provisionally go ahead.

Hopefully things will be as near back to normal as it can be under the circumstances, can't see it like but we can live in hope.

So wrap up warm, be safe and keep cosy.

Tabletop Sale Cancelled

I'm afraid that due to that white stuff in the picture we can't get out of the village and as it doesn't look like abating in the near fututre we have sadly had to cancel the Tabletop Sale.

There is however some good news.

We have rescheduled it for the 18th December, same time same place.

Gives us all more time to rake out more stuff to sell...."yay"

Sorry folks but due to the inclement weather the Tuesday evening class in Lochee, 30th November, has been cancelled, ie. too much sna. I'll let you know if other classes are being cancelled. Look oot the windie n if there's cauld white stuff falling from th skeh n th roads r a slippery jist bide in n dae star jumps.

Keep an ear out on Wave 102 and Radio Tay as they're gonna announce Club cancellations on the air.

Congratulations to Unity Kane, Nicole Dowdles, Gill Hutcheson, Jonathan Cochrane, John Crosby and Reece Hershaw who all received their trophies for their prowess when competing in 2010's hard fought Blackbelt Leagues. Fantastic effort from you all. Very proud of you.

Congratulations

Our best wishes go to our two students who sat and passed their Blackbelt Gradings on Saturday 13th. Gill Hutcheson passed her 1-4 National Blackbelt Grading and Reece Hershaw successfully negotiated his way through a really hard International Grading and has been promoted to 1st Dan Blackbelt. Our congratulations go to them both.

Colour Belt Gradings

The last Colour Belt Gradings of 2010 will be held as follows...

Menzieshill Club...Community Centre, Menzieshill on the 8th December from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

All other Clubs...BB Hall, Bright Street, Lochee on the 9th of December commencing at 6.00pm....there will be a normal training session held before the Grading for all students commencing at 4.30pm....bring a packed lunch if you wish....I like Jaffa Cakes.

All students should Grade unless you have been advised not to by Mr. Cahill.

Please check that your Licence is in date.

New students should apply now, thanks.

The cost is £30.00p and all students who are Yellow Belt and above should have at least a Headguard and Gumshield. Please see Mr. Cahill or Miss Kane regarding purchasing softgear. You should not buy softgear independently outwith the Club as your Insurance Premium will be increased by the Insurance Company. Only softgear which is safety approved can be worn. This is for all our safety when training, sparring, special techniques etc.

Christmas Dance 2010

This years Christmas Dance which amalgamates the Blackbelt League Presentation and the Student of the Year Awards will be held on 26th November in the Bay Hotel, Pettycur Bay, Fife.

Don't miss this Dance it is fabulous and a great chance to meet up and have a great time with all your friends from all over our GTF Family. You can dance the night away to Joes Band.

See Mr. Cahill or Miss Kane for tickets as soon as possible please....no, you're right it's a meringue, I didn't have a snowball.

Cost is as follows...14 years and above £11.00p...below 13 years £6.00p.

First Aid Course

The next First Aid Course will be held on the 20th of November in the BB Hall, Bright Street, Lochee, Dundee from 09.00am to 4.30pm.

The cost will be £70.00p and all Instructors and Assistant Instructors who haven't attended this Course should attend this one. The First Aid Course is however open to anyone who wishes to attend.

The Course will be divided into two parts.

Morning...theory which will be slanted towards aspects of Sports Injury.

Afternoon...practical work including CPR, bandaging, splinting, wound care etc.

Please see myself or Mr. Cunningham for any further details.

Blackbelt Grading and Seminar

The Blackbelt Grading and Seminar will be held in the Parish Church Hall, Burntisland, on the 13th November, 09.00 for 09.30.

Seminar...all those Grading must attend.

The cost is £45.00p.

National Gradings...those going for National Gradings in the afternoon will now be Graded free of charge.

International Gradings...those doing their International Grading should have all paperwork completed beforehand if possible. Two passport photographs and fees to be brought on the day.

Lets make this the very best Grading we can for us all.

Referees Course

Saturday 23rd October at 09.00am until 5.00pm in the Parish Church Hall, Burntisland.

Cost for whole day £90.00p

Cost per half day £50.00p

Should be attended by all members wanting to make the teams, except those who have already done it, for the World Championships 2011 and all Instructors, Blackbelts, Red Belts and above who have not done this Course since January 1st, 2009.

Please register with Mr. Cunningham or give your apologies for being unable to attend by Friday 22nd...that's this Friday folks.

ASC Interclub Competition will be held in the Parish Church Hall, East Leven Street, Burntisland on Sunday 10th October starting at 1.00pm for under 18s, over 18s start at 2.30pm. Costs £10.00.

ASC Destroyer-Destruction Competition.

The Destroyer Competition will now be held in November not on Sunday as reported.

Instructors Course

This Instructors Course will be held on Saturday 9th October in the Parish Church Hall, East Leven Street, Burntisland starting at 09.00am. The whole Course is open to Green Belt and above. The afternoon session is open to all Grades.

9.00am How to Run a Club £50.00p
1.00pm How to Teach Your Club £50.00p.
Whole day £90.00p.
Lunch provided.

All Instructors and assistants who have not done this Course in the last 3 years must do it.

Catering Committee

Hi folks. Miss Kane is currently looking for volunteers to assist her in forming the Catering Committee who's job it will be to implement the planning, organisation and delivery of feeding the students attending the 8th World Championships 2011. Buffet style meals may have to be prepared for the President and Masters attending and the students will be provided with packed lunches. All other meals will be prepared by and consumed in the Queens Hotel. Please contact Miss Kane for further details. Thanking you in advance.

First Aid Team

Hello everyone. I'm currently putting together a Team of First Aiders to attend all GTF Scotland events. Having a current GTF First Aid qualification would be an advantage but we will all be attending GTF First Aid Training Classes and being represented at all future GTF events, eg. Jeegoo and ATT Training. Our goal will be to peak as a team before the 8th GTF World Championships. Names to me asap please. Thanking you in advance for your cooperation.

High Grade Training

Right all you High Grade Blackbelts, pin back your lugs. You asked me if you could have your own High Grade Training class every week. I'm in agreement so I think you should all get your heads together and let me know if you're committed to this en masse 100%, cos if youre not I'll no be very happy. Jeegoo High Grade League No3

Jeegoo High Grade League Number 3 will be held in the Parish Church Hall, Burntisland on Saturday 18th September commencing at 09.00am. This is the last league of the year.

Jeegoo High Grade Training and Squad will be held on Sunday 19th September in the Parish Church Hall, Burntisland commencing at 13.00pm.

Please inform Mr. Cunningham if you cannot attend any of these events.

Three new Scottish Champions from Dundee Wildcats

Miss Kane and I would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to all our students who competed at the Scottish Championships held on Sunday 29th September.

Those who competed were a great advert for Dundee Wildcats and we now have 3 new Scottish Champions at different levels and in diverse Taekwon Do disciplines.

Fifteen year old Reece Hershaw astounded his parents by winning all 3 Gold Medals in his Division. These are Gold Patterns, Gold Sparring, Gold Special Techniques. He then went on to enter the adult section and scored Bronze for Sparring.

Eleven year old Nicole Dowdles, ( my Grandaughter), won Gold for Sparring, Gold in the 5 student team event and Silver for Patterns.

Twenty One year old Blair Watson won Gold for Patterns in his Division.

Anna and Daniel Robertson and Campbell Stevenson all participated in the Peewee and Rainbow categories respectively and gained participation Medals for their sterling efforts.

Roll on the 8th GTF World Championships to be held in the DISC, Dundee, 7th to 10th July 2011.
